A Nevitt Construction is a family run builder based in Hayle, working across West Cornwall since 1975. Hayle is our home town, not a place we drive to. We take on design and build, extensions, refurbishments and groundworks here, from £30,000 to £3,000,000.
Building in Hayle
Hayle is really three places that grew together. Foundry formed around John Harvey’s ironworks of 1779, Copperhouse around the Cornish Copper Company smelter of 1758, and the Towans are the dune villages strung along the coast. Phillack next door is older than any of them, recorded as Egloshayle in 1130. Building in this town means moving between all of that in a single week: Victorian terraces on one job, the new-build apartments and townhouses at Copper Estuary on the next.
The harbour sits inside the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, it is a Conservation Area, and there is an SSSI alongside it, so anything near the water attracts a level of planning scrutiny you will not meet in most Cornish towns. The North Quay regeneration, roughly 20 acres within the 100-acre harbour site, is bringing around 300 homes, a new public square and works to a Grade II listed stable block. Add the tidal ground around Carnsew Pool and the salt coming off the north coast, and Hayle asks for detailing that suits an estuary town.
