A Nevitt Construction is a family run building contractor based in Hayle, working across West Cornwall since 1975. We build to architects’ drawings, and we design and build in house, on projects from £30,000 to £3,000,000.
Handing a client to a builder is a risk to your reputation as much as theirs. A job that runs badly comes back to whoever made the introduction. This page is here so you can judge whether that risk is worth taking with us.
What we offer a practice
- Your drawings, built as drawn
- Most of our work starts with somebody else's drawings. We read them, price them properly, and raise the things that will not work on that site before they become a variation. Where a detail needs resolving on the ground we come back to you rather than deciding it ourselves.
- Or design and build, if that suits the client better
- We also take projects from first sketch through planning and building regulations to handover. On a scheme where a client wants one firm answerable for everything, that is worth knowing — and it means we understand the drawing side of what you hand us.
- One point of contact
- You deal with Andy. Not an account manager, not a different site manager each month. On a project running over a year, that continuity is usually what decides whether the drawings survive contact with the site.
- The range to be useful more than once
- From £30,000 extensions to £3,000,000 new builds, which is the public range we have worked in. A practice does not want a different contractor for every scale of job.
- Fifty years in one area
- Since 1975, in the same corner of Cornwall. We know the ground, the planners and the suppliers here, and we are still going to be here when a question comes up two years after handover.
How a referral works

You send the drawings
Email them, or call and talk it through first. We will tell you honestly and quickly whether it is a job for us — including when it is not.

We price it and flag what matters
A written price against your drawings, with the buildability questions and site constraints listed rather than buried. If something is going to cost the client more than the drawing suggests, you hear it from us first.
- 03
We build it, and you stay informed
Your client gets one contractor answerable for the site. You get told what is happening without having to chase, and you are asked before anything is changed.
Where we work
Hayle and roughly eight miles around it is home ground; we work out from there across West Cornwall, as far as St Austell,35 miles east. If your client's site is further out, ask anyway — the answer depends on the project rather than the postcode.
Practices in Truro and Penzance: we are a straightforward drive from both, and used to working alongside a practice rather than around one.
