Construction management

Construction management in West Cornwall

A Nevitt Construction offers construction management across West Cornwall from our base in Hayle. A family firm since 1975, we act as the one point of contact on a larger build. We run the trades, the timeline and the budget so that you are not left co-ordinating a site yourself.

On a bigger project there are a lot of moving parts: several trades, a programme that has to knit together, materials that need ordering in the right order, and a budget that only stays under control if someone is watching it every week. Construction management is us taking that on, so you have one experienced person answerable for the whole site.

It suits clients running a substantial build who want professional oversight without becoming a full-time project manager themselves. It also suits architects and planning consultants who want their drawings delivered on the ground by a builder they can trust to run the job properly.

What does construction management include?

One experienced person answerable for the whole site. We programme the works so the trades follow in the right order, engage and co-ordinate those trades and suppliers, order materials to the programme so nothing holds the site up, track the budget and flag problems while there is still time to act, and give you regular updates in plain language.

How does construction management work in practice?

We start from the drawings and the scope, build a realistic programme and agree how the budget will be tracked and reported. We then assemble the trades and suppliers and set out who does what and when. From there we run the site week to week, with Andy answerable, and see the project through to handover.

    Handover

We see the project to completion and hand over, having kept you informed the whole way rather than only at the end.

How much does construction management cost?

Construction management is priced against the size and length of the project and how much of the site we are running. A build that needs six months of oversight and a dozen trades is a bigger commitment than a short, simple one, and the fee reflects that.

These are larger projects, so they sit toward the upper part of our public £30,000 to £3,000,000 range. We agree the basis in writing before we start and keep the budget visible throughout, so the final figure is one you have seen coming.

“Managed and executed the build for us on commercial restaurant. Great job. Thorough from start to finish. Would highly recommend.”
