A Nevitt Construction is a family run design and build contractor based in Hayle, working across West Cornwall since 1975. We take a new home or major project from the first drawings through planning, groundworks and the build to handover. One team, one point of contact, from £30,000 to £3,000,000.
Design and build means the drawings and the building are handled by the same firm. Instead of appointing an architect, then finding a builder, then hoping the two agree, you deal with Andy and one team the whole way through. The people who draw it are answerable for building it, so what is designed can actually be built to the budget agreed.
It is the work Andy most wants to take on, and the work fifty years in one corner of Cornwall has best prepared us for. We know the ground, the planners and the local suppliers, and we know what the weather here does to a building over time.
What is included in a design and build project?
Everything from the first sketch to the finished building. We produce the concept drawings, or build to your own architect’s design, put in the planning application and the building regulations, dig and pour the foundations with our own team, and carry out the full build through to a decorated home. One firm is answerable for all of it.

How does the design and build process work?
In four stages. We visit the site and talk honestly about what the budget will stretch to, then draw the scheme and take it through planning. The same team does the groundworks and the build, with Andy on hand throughout, and we hand over a finished building and stand behind it afterwards. You are never passed between firms.

We draw up the scheme (or take on your architect’s), then handle the planning application and building regulations so you are not chasing paperwork.

One team does the groundworks and the build, with Andy on hand throughout. You always know who to ask and where the job has got to.

Handover and aftercare
We hand over a finished building, walk you through it, and stand behind the work afterwards. We will still be here, in the same town, next year.
How much does design and build cost in Cornwall?
Every design and build job is quoted on its own drawings. There is no honest way to price a new home by the square foot from a website.
