Refurbishments and renovations in West Cornwall
A Nevitt Construction refurbishes and renovates homes across West Cornwall from our base in Hayle. A family firm since 1975, we work on everything from granite period cottages to whole-house remodels, modernising a home properly while respecting the building it already is.
West Cornwall is full of buildings worth saving: granite fishermen’s cottages in St Ives, Georgian terraces in Penzance and Truro, mining-era stone in Camborne and Redruth. Renovating them well means understanding how they were built. Solid walls need to breathe, damp has to be handled the right way, and new materials should match what is already there.
We take on full refurbishments, one-room remodels, kitchens and bathrooms, and the tired-house-to-family-home projects that need everything doing at once. Where a home has been left in a bad state, or a previous builder has walked off a job, we are used to picking it up and putting it right.

What is included in a refurbishment?
As much or as little as the building needs. That runs from an honest look over the property and a view on what is worth doing, through structural repair, damp treatment and solid-wall work, to reconfiguring rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, joinery and decoration. Period features are repaired sympathetically and new materials matched to what is already there.

How does a renovation project run?
We walk the property with you first and separate what needs doing structurally from what is only cosmetic, then agree a sensible order of work. Bigger remodels get drawings and any consents they need. One team then carries out the work in the right sequence, keeping the home secure, and hands back a house that is sound and finished.

Consultation
We walk the property with you, flag what needs doing structurally versus cosmetically, and agree a sensible order of work.
- 02
Planning the work
For bigger remodels we draw up the changes and handle any consents; for listed or conservation-area homes we work to what the rules allow.
- 03
The work
One team carries out the structural, first-fix and finishing work in the right sequence, keeping the home secure throughout.

We finish, clean up and hand back a home that is sound, warm and finished to the standard we would want in our own.
How much does a house renovation cost in Cornwall?
Renovation cost turns on how much is being done and what the building throws up once you open it up. A cosmetic refresh, a full re-wire and re-plumb, and a structural repair to an old solid-wall cottage are very different in price. Older buildings sometimes hide surprises, so we are straight with you about what we can see and what we cannot yet.
Refurbishment projects sit within our usual £30,000 to £3,000,000 range depending on scale. We quote in writing off a proper look at the property, and where the picture is uncertain we tell you rather than guess.
